My Music

In my teen years, I sang in both the youth and adult choirs at the First United Methodist Church of Leeds, Alabama. I also played trombone in the Leeds High School Marching Band and it's counterpart, the Concert Performance Band. During my high school sophomore, junior and senior years, I additionally held the dubious status of being the only male voice in the Leeds High School Chorus and competing for the All-County and All-State Choirs.

Shortly after high school graduation I entered a professional recording studio for the first time and produced a master recording of "The Christmas Song" and "Merry Christmas Darling" with a duo of talented sisters, Krista and Melissa Marine. Yes, Marine was their real sir name. Unfortunately, these tracks never made it to vinyl, which was the fad of the times, but it did convince me, and others, that I could have a real career as a performing artist.

I attended two different Junior Colleges where my major was Music & Performing Arts (Voice & Theater). I also worked as a radio disc jockey in Columbus, Mississippi during the early 80's where I hosted and performed regularly with the Mid-South Hayride, a traveling Grand ol' Opry type of show.

During this time I made a modest living and gained a reputation and following around central Mississippi not only as a disc jockey but as a performer and studio backup singer. I wrote and sold a couple of commercial jingles and supplemented my income with studio work recording demo tapes for others and singing commercial jingles and radio station ID tags and such.

It wasn't until I joined the Marine Corps in 1983 that I abandoned my long held dream of performing with Dolly Parton and one day being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Oh, the dreams of our youth!

I still love to sing even though I usually confine it to the occasional night out at a local karaoke bar with friends. However, nowadays with all the electronics one needs to produce a digital recording available with almost any basic computer, I have been producing a few recordings of my own. This is the place where I share them with others.

I hope you enjoy.

Tiny Bubbles

In Hawai'i, most of the "true Hawaiians" would not be caught singing this song, but it seems that every "non-native" singer in is expected to know it. My grandmother loved this song and every time I sing it I think of the time she visited me here in Hawai'i and the great fun we had.

First Day In Heaven

Since I stated earlier that I grew up in the deep south and first began singing in church, I guess it is only natural that I should show my roots and include a good old foot stompin, hand clappin, pew walkin southern gospel song here. Of all the gospel music styles, Southern Gospel is my favorite. It's upbeat tempo and joyful messages are always uplifting.
